Keele University Conferences & Events success as thousands flock on to campus

06 Jan 2016

Last year was a fantastic time for Keele University Conferences & Events as thousands of conference and event guests flocked on to the Staffordshire campus.

As always it was a varied and interesting year in terms of events - the team hosted everything from summer schools to sporting tournaments, weddings, recruitment events and awards dinners, and were challenged throughout the year with organising some tricky and diverse requests.

Keele Hall, the 19th Grade II listed building at the heart of the Staffordshire countryside and the main year-round conference and banqueting venue, welcomed more than 35,000 guests through its doors – for weddings, meetings, conferences, exhibitions, banquets, parties, proms, society get-togethers and much more.

Keele University Conferences & Events also hosted (by far) its biggest ever Christmas Market, which saw Keele Hall packed to the rafters with shoppers and stalls raising thousands for charity in the process. Furthermore, the improved and expanded Christmas Party programme was a huge success as people came to celebrate the festive season with friends, family and colleagues.

Keele were also proud to be one of the venues who played host to the 2015 UK Corporate Games, when thousands of business men and women descended on Staffordshire in late June for a weekend of competitive sport. Keele had the pleasure of hosting the cricket, hockey, rugby and netball competitions on-site, as well as providing accommodation, catering and hosting the Great Games Party at the university's Students’ Union.

Not only are Keele's surroundings the Most Beautiful University in the Midlands according to The Telegraph but there was also had a bumper year for business awards and accreditations. In the last 12 months, Keele University Conferences & Events achieved silver in the Green Tourism Awards for their commitment to sustainable practice, and they become the first Midlands academic venue to gain a Compliant Venues Healthcare Accreditation. Keele University Conferences & Events chefs also notched themselves a number of prestigious TUCO awards earlier in the year.

Keele University Conferences & Events most recent award, the Enjoy Staffs Business Tourism Award Silver Award, capped off the year in a wonderful way. All entrants to the award were reviewed and marked independently on their commitment to delivering excellent customer service, maintaining a high standard of training and skills for their employees, their commitment to sustainability and the environment and their general quality of service – making this an all-encompassing celebration of Keele University Conferences & Events achievements throughout the year.

So, as Keele University Conferences & Events start a fresh and exciting new year, the team can look back with pride on what has been a great 12 months – and look forward to 2016 with the aim that it could be even better.
