05 Sep 2019

Alton Towers are delighted to welcome Tony Stevenson, as the new Conference & Banqueting Manager.

Tony is certainly not new to the business having worked in various roles at Alton Towers since 2000. His first introduction to Alton Towers was back in 1987, when as part of his catering course at college, he was brought in as a waiter at the dinner for the It’s a Royal Knockout Competition  and was allocated the Duchess of York`s table to look after.  After finishing college he moved to London and started work in Claridges in various roles including Room Service Headwaiter, Front Office and Food & Beverage Control  before moving into Conference and Banqueting in 1994, culminating in running a State Banquet Event on the 25th May 1995 for Her Majesty the Queen.

He left Claridges in 1996 and joined The Lanesborough Hotel as Private Dining Operations Manager which entailed looking after 7 Private Conference rooms with dining from 12 covers up to 220 . Prestigious clients included running a dinner for President Bush Senior.

After having his first child he and his family decided to re-locate back to Stoke on Trent and join the Alton Towers team. In this time he has been a waiter in the Secret Garden Restaurant, Guest Relations Manager, Restaurant and Bars Manager in the Alton Towers Hotel, and then Senior Food & Beverage Manager across all bars and Restaurants in all of our hotels.

With this varied and prestigious background, they are very excited at having Tony manage the operational side of their conference and events!
